Customizing Your Note Templates
Create and customize note templates to match your documentation style and clinical approach.
Overview
Every clinician has their own documentation style, and MindHealthFlow's customizable templates let you create notes that match your preferences while meeting clinical and billing requirements. Templates save time and ensure consistency across your documentation.
Built-in Templates
MindHealthFlow comes with professionally designed templates for common documentation needs:
- Initial intake and assessment
- Individual therapy progress notes (SOAP, DAP, BIRP formats)
- Group therapy notes
- Couples and family session notes
- Treatment plan updates
- Discharge summaries
- Telehealth session documentation
Creating Custom Templates
To create your own template:
- Navigate to Settings > Templates > Create New Template
- Choose a base template or start from scratch
- Add, remove, or rearrange sections as needed
- Configure which fields are required vs. optional
- Add placeholder text or prompts to guide documentation
- Save and name your template for easy access
Template Components
Templates can include various field types to capture the information you need:
- Free-text sections for narrative documentation
- Dropdown menus for standardized selections (mood, affect, risk level)
- Checkboxes for symptoms, interventions, and goals addressed
- Rating scales for progress measurements
- Signature and date fields
- Conditional sections that appear based on other selections
Template Sharing
If you're part of a group practice on an Enterprise plan, templates can be shared across your organization. Practice administrators can create standardized templates that all clinicians can use, ensuring consistent documentation while still allowing for individual customization.
AI Integration
Your custom templates work seamlessly with AI note generation. When the AI creates a note, it will use your preferred template structure and populate the sections you've defined. This means you get the time savings of AI assistance with the documentation format you prefer.
