Using Voice-to-Text Transcription
Dictate your clinical notes quickly and accurately using our voice transcription feature.
Overview
Voice-to-text transcription allows you to dictate clinical notes naturally, converting your spoken words into written documentation instantly. This feature is perfect for clinicians who prefer speaking over typing or need to document quickly between sessions.
Getting Started with Voice Transcription
To use voice transcription, simply click the microphone icon in any text field within MindHealthFlow. Grant microphone permissions when prompted, and start speaking. Your words will appear as text in real-time.
- Click the microphone icon or press the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+V)
- Wait for the "Listening..." indicator to appear
- Speak naturally at a normal pace
- Click the microphone again or pause speaking to stop transcription
Tips for Accurate Transcription
Our voice recognition is trained on clinical terminology, but following these tips will help ensure the best accuracy:
- Use a quality microphone or headset in a quiet environment
- Speak clearly and at a moderate pace
- Say punctuation out loud when needed ("period", "comma", "new paragraph")
- Spell out unusual names or terms the first time you use them
- Review and edit the transcription before saving
Clinical Vocabulary
MindHealthFlow's transcription engine recognizes common clinical terms, DSM-5 diagnoses, medication names, and therapeutic modalities. Terms like "cognitive behavioral therapy," "generalized anxiety disorder," and common psychotropic medications are transcribed accurately without needing to spell them out.
Privacy Considerations
Voice transcription is processed securely and complies with HIPAA requirements. Audio is converted to text in real-time and is not stored or recorded. Only the resulting text is saved to your notes.
